1. Information we collect
| Category | Examples |
|---|
| Account data | Email address, authentication identifiers, subscriber status, and related account records |
| Preference data | Watchlists, alert settings, timezone, and product-update choices |
| User content | Field notes, ratings, optional uploads, and related journal data you choose to submit |
| Operational data | Request metadata, device and browser signals, performance telemetry, and security logs |
| Billing data | Subscription and transaction metadata managed through payment providers |
| Sensitive or high-risk data | If you submit precise location notes, GPS-linked journal details, or other sensitive information, Wildlight treats that data with heightened care and does not intentionally use it for unrelated marketing purposes. |
2. How we use personal data and lawful bases
| Purpose | Primary basis | What this covers |
|---|
| Provide the service | Contract performance | Create accounts, operate subscriptions, and deliver dashboards, alerts, and planning features |
| Security and abuse prevention | Legitimate interests | Protect accounts, investigate misuse, and keep the product reliable |
| Billing and recordkeeping | Contract performance and legal obligations | Process payments, document renewals, and maintain required tax and accounting records |
| Operational analytics | Legitimate interests or consent, depending on the tool | Measure product reliability, debug failures, and understand whether optional analytics or marketing tools are effective |
| Privacy operations | Legal obligations and legitimate interests | Process access, deletion, correction, and consent-history requests |
3. Service providers and subprocessors
Wildlight uses service providers for hosting, authentication, payments, email delivery, observability, mapping, search, and AI assistance. The current list is maintained on our Sub-processors page.
4. Cookies, similar technologies, and optional marketing tools
Wildlight uses essential cookies for authentication and session continuity. Optional analytics and marketing scripts are only loaded when the relevant consent preference is enabled. Details are available in the Cookie Notice.
5. Retention
| Record type | Retention approach |
|---|
| Account profile and subscriber records | Retained while the account is active and then retained only as needed for legal, billing, fraud-prevention, or audit purposes |
| Field notes and other user content | Retained while the account remains active unless the user deletes it sooner or requests account deletion |
| Stripe and billing records | Retained for the period required for financial and tax recordkeeping |
| Operational logs and diagnostics | Retained only as long as reasonably necessary for security, debugging, fraud review, and audit needs |
| Consent and privacy request records | Retained to demonstrate compliance and to respond to future disputes or regulator questions |
6. Your choices and rights
You can update preferences in your account, download your data, request deletion, and submit other privacy requests from the account privacy section. Depending on your jurisdiction, you may also have rights to access, correction, portability, restriction, objection, or appeal.
Wildlight does not sell personal data for money and does not share personal data for cross-context behavioral advertising. If that ever changes, Wildlight will update this Policy and any required user-facing controls.
7. Children’s data
Wildlight is not directed to children under 18 and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe a child has provided personal information to Wildlight, contact privacy@wildlightai.com so the issue can be reviewed and addressed.
8. Data security
Wildlight uses HTTPS for traffic in transit, relies on managed infrastructure providers for encrypted storage and payment handling, restricts privileged access to authorized operators, and keeps privacy-request and consent history for auditability. No system is perfectly secure, and Wildlight cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International transfers
Wildlight and its service providers may process information in the United States and other jurisdictions where they operate. When data is transferred across borders, Wildlight relies on provider contractual, legal, and operational safeguards where available, including vendor data-processing terms and related transfer mechanisms.
10. Changes to this Policy
Wildlight may update this Policy from time to time. Material updates will be posted with a new effective date and may also be communicated by email or in-product notice. Continued use after a material update may require renewed acknowledgement or consent.
